Default Unexplained driveability issue...

Hi All,

New to the forum...recently picked up an '04 Freelander 2.5 w/ 70,000 miles..perfect condition...except....

when cold, as in sitting over night, first start of the day..starts fine but barely runs after getting out of the driveway (limp mode??) Shut the car off, restart and the car runs fine the rest of the day..

One issue last week, and this has happened only once....driving on the highway with cruise on at about 80 mph....running fine..went into same condition..pulled over, restarted and it ran fine...

When I say barely runs, I mean barely..can't accelerate at all, cant climb slight incline...just can go foward at about 5 mph with lots of shaking, coughing, popping, farting, etc..

Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Thanks in advance for your help?

Replace spark plugs. Then if nothing changes I would get into a mechanic that works on landys... Unless you want to try changing out the coil packs and possibly the injectors your self. When mine went down, she needed two injectors sealed and a coil pack replaced. Now I'm about to change another coil pack. As previous poster said, get the OBD II codes read.
