Default 02 Range Rover Heater Core Issue?!!??!?!?

Hey fellas and ladies. I just took my 02 Range Rover in to the dealer to look at a coolant/antifreeze leak that was coming from under the passenger side running board and also a bit coming into the passenger front floor board. I figured that it was the heater core leaking and possibly the O Rings. They diagnosed the issue as the O Rings being fine and just the heater core needing to be replaced. They estimated the cost at $2413.00. I was wondering what you guys feel about this and if this estimate is fair. Any feedback would be greatly appreiciated.

Thanks,
Tim@1010productions.com

While I cannot speak for the newer models, I have a '90 County and '91 Hunter and both needed heater cores. This is a very common problem on the Classics. My Pop changed them both so they were cheap to me. If you live in Southern CA and know that these are the same (I am not sure) I could see what my Pop would charge (the whole dash has to come out in order to get the heater core/fan blower/adjustment box out of the car.

Hi I have a the same problem on my RR 98 it is very easy fix. The Heater Cord O-Ring cost about 8.00 and you need 2 of them you will also need a senor is about 30.00. All you have to do is removed the glove box and the side pandle heat vent. you job take about four hour to complete make sure you drain your coolant or esle it will srip all over the front floor broad.

here is a site for you it have evrything you need to know and what you need to fix it

Tim, you had better call around and see if you can get a better price from a shop that has done this sort of repair before. It won't be cheap cause it is a hard job to do, basicily the whole dash will be coming out.

But if you have LHD this is what you do removed the glove box

removed 5 screws then glove removed after that removed center windows switch console 2 screws
then the gear concole 1screws after that left side pandle just 2 screws after that removed the vent then you will see the heater o-ring you will need a snake tool for this also a new screws cause the old one that hold the heater o-ring it get damage i hope this help you
