03 RR Smoking!! Please help
Hi, Ok so I got a new battery put in because the other one completely took a dump. It is an interstate mtp 93. (is that ok for an 03 hse range rover?) Well that was yesterday and now today after driving my car for not that long it started smoking from the hood and smelled as if something was burning. Could this have something to do with the battery? Thank you for your responses. -Sarah

The battery model is fine.
Could you tell where in the engine compartment the smoke was coming from? How long after driving did it start to smoke?
May have bad battery connections or a short in the starter that is sending all the voltage straight to the ground (causing it to become extremely hot and smoke). I wouldn't try starting it or driving it until you get it checked out because if this is the case the battery can become overheated and explode.
Chances are if you weren't having problems before, it's related to the battery replacement.

It may be a bad battery (even though you just replaced it). Open up the fuse box and look for any signs of melting. Check cables too. Did you put the battery in yourself or did you take it to a shop? The shop might not have connected it correctly. My p38 (even though not related to the MKIII) started overheating and smoking when I did not connect the battery properly. And it does not occur instantly, it takes about 10 minutes (or at least it did for me). I would not drive it until you resolve this issue as you may cause your vehicle to catch fire and result in a total loss.
