Default 1993 Range Rover Questions

Greetings All - First post, 3rd Land Rover. Just purchased a 1993 Range Rover LWB. Fav one so far.

Just a couple of questions:

1) I have a 1993 Range Rover LWB and currently experiencing vibrations through the whole car at 40 mph and above, under power and coasting. The u-joints all look good and are well greased.
2) The transmission also shifts well under power but cluncks into 3rd, 2nd, and 1st when downshifting. Is this a result of old trans fluid, stretched transfer case chain, or a transmission in need of work?
3) Brakes - When lightly presssing the brake pedal the brakes immediatley over grab but then immediately release and work as nomal. I checked the ABS pump seems to be working as normal. Anyone experience this?

Anyone experience these items?

Thanks

Default RE: 1993 Range Rover Questions

Not knowing what your mileage is or your maintance habits are, I would suggest you change the tranny fluid adding a bottle of Lucas tranny additive to help free up the sticking valves in the valve body.
I would also suggest you do a full brake flush, depending on how old the fluid is you may need 2 qts of brake fluid.
For the vibration, start with the basics, wheel bearing repack, change the swivel fluid and sdjust, test and inspect and all the bushings and replace as necessary also rebalance the tires.
