Default 1998 Range Rover P38 Light Switch

This is a fairly basic question, but does the light switch (the **** next to the steering wheel that has off, fog, headlight options on it) have an internal backlight? I just acquired a 50th Edition and the light **** has no backlight when the lights are turned on (like most of the other switches do) and I was curious if this was normal or if the light **** simply doesn't light up at night?

Thank you

Because some of the control back lights don't work on my 2000 Ranger, I never really noticed until I read your question. Surprisingly (in my case) the light switch is backlit when the head lights are turned on. In my other two cars of similar vintage, the switches and ***** are always backlit, making them easy to see when the day starts to go dark. With my rover I've just come to know where in the dark to poke and twist to turn things on. Why in the heck did someone feel control lights had to be tied into the body computer? Especially when they are LEDs.
