Default 1998 rover won't crank.

I have a 98 p38 range rover. The other night I went to go home from work and the truck would not crank. I unlocked it with the remote like always and turned the key and it did not crank. All the dash lights, radio, heater fans etc. all came on as it normally does. I heard no clicking from starter solenoid. I have tested all the fuses and relays and have found nothing wrong so far. The battery connections are clean and tight. I have power to all the relays. But when turning the key nothing makes noise. I have spent almost 8 hours testing stuff and am coming up empty. Please help! I can fix almost any U.S. car but this thing has me stumped. Thanks in advance for you help. P.s. I can put 12 volts to the starter crank wire and it cranks. With the key in the run position and jumping the starter and fuel pump it still will not run.

You have a starter solenoid relay in the engine compartment fuse box. I'd start looking there.....

thanks ihscouts, but as it states in the text, I have tested each and every relay in the box and switched it out with another that I know is good. still nothing. and by tested I mean put 12 volts and ground to pins 85 and 86 and watched the relay pull in and then tested for continuity across the other 2. I have also tested for power in each pin slot in the fuse box and tested for ground in the pins in the box. all tested correctly!!!

When you crank it should also be energizing the fuel pump relay.

can you hear the micro relay in the body control module under the passenger seat clicking when you crank? with the key on is the check engine light on?
"CIRCUIT OPERATION
Starting System
When the Ignition Switch (X274) is switched to
position III, the BeCM (Z238) grounds the starter
solenoid relay inside the Engine Compartment Fuse
Box (P125) which then energizes, applying battery
voltage to the Starter Solenoid (K136) and Starter"

thanks for the responses. raid 13, yes i can hear the micro relay under the seat click, and yes the cel is on with the key on. i can feel the fuel pump relay energize when the key is turned on. and then de-energize a couple seconds later. i can not feel the crank relay energize when the key is turned to the crank position. for some reason the starter relay is not being grounded and i don't think the ignition system (injectors and coils )are being powered up either(may be related). it's like the immobilizer is just not releasing the vehicle to operate, even though i do not have the blinking red led or a message on the dash.

Default C177 pin 5

great, it not a security issue or the BeCM. the next easiest step is to see if the ground signal (when cranking) is entering the engine fuse box c177 pin 6 white with red tracer. if its not the ignition switch, ground point or harness would be the next steeps

Default No check engine light

[IQUOTE=cardude59;638741]thanks raid, i'll give it a try. quite frankly this is making me pull my hair out.[/QUOTE]
hi raid. I mis-typed. I DO NOT have a check engine light on when the key is on. I have checked the body and engine grounds and all are less then .3 ohms. The service engine light comes on for a couple seconds when I turn the key on then goes out. This is a red light and the check engine light is yellow. Does this mean I may have to sell a kidney to fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.
