Has anyone ever replaced the alternator on a 2005 RR HSE? I was wondering how difficult it is.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

I have replaced about 1.2 million of them. Its a stupid big job just for an alternator. Remove fan shroud, fan, tensioner, belt, coolant line, positive cable, field wire, alternator. splash all the coolant is everywhere. reassemble, fill cooling system, bleed.

Thank you for the reply, that's what I was afraid of. My dealer wants to charge me $2100 ($1650 parts/450 labor) to do it. I have found the alternator online for $350. Was thinking about taking the alternator to a local import repair shop and asking if they would put my alternator in and just charge me labor.....would save me over $1000.

you can do this yourself its basic removal of parts in the way and swap out the alt.

 

If I can not find a local independent RR mech I will probably attempt this myself. I appreciate your encouragement!
