I am not aware of the 2006 being better or worse than the other years that you mentioned, they are all fairly the same. If you find a good deal on one then I say get it. I prefer the sprot to the HSE but that is just symantics on body style.

the decrease in problems came in 2008 based upon my research and JD power. i am not saying don't do it, it's just that the quality control seems to have improved significantly in the 2008 MY.

06 is when it got the new jaguar engine. They then updated the interior in 07 to separate it from the BMW designed interior. Those are the main changes anyways... The 06 had some issues because it was the first year it had the jag power plant and new electronics. I'm sure once an 06 has 30k miles on it that most/if not all problems have been resolved. Rovers usually have 90% of their problems within the first 20k miles. They are just very complicated vehicles and need time to work out their "teething" problems.

I am a new RR owner having just purchased an '08 S/C last week. What i learned was the bigger changes came in '07 where they made significant changes to the interior, redesigned the seats and door trim, added a new rear differential and suspension from the 2006 model year. I felt it was a good reason to step up and looked at '07 & '08 models.
