Default '93 RR LWB-4wd not working.

My front axle will not engage when the rear wheels lose traction. The rears start to spin and the traction control light comes on as well as ABS light. Sometimes the TC light stays on, sometimes it goes off like it's supposed to. I also hear a buzzing noise up front or under dash somewhere while rear wheels are spinning. Are the front wheels controlled electronically, or is there a problem in the transfer case? Maybe the viscous coupling? I'm lost, please help! I'm getting stuck in 2" of snow, it's embarrassing! Thanks, Brett.

T/case issue, when did you last check and or change your t/case fluid?

Hey Mike, I was hoping I could reel you in! I haven't changed it. It was checkedsummer '06 right after it was purchased, and fluid was good, like new. I am an Idiot and didn't check going into this winter! Is it too late to dump and refill or is the damage done? I've been so good with the other fluids/changes etc, just didn't think of the t-case. If you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks, Brett.

i think you have a damaged or broken front axle.
when the viscous fails most of the time it's locked up
and the front and rear wheels drag on sharp corners while
driving on pavement.
suggestions:
with rover in park, rear wheels blocked.
jack only left front road wheel up try to spin if you can't good
jack only right front road wheel up try to spin if you can't good
if you can spin one of the tires this is not good news and
an axle inside is broken.

I would suggest you find a small Rover shop and let them look at it.

I agree, unfortunately, Milwaukee is not a hotbed for Rovers. I'm reluctant to take it to a dealer, too many horror stories and major $$$! I'll have to let my fingers do the walking tomorrow. Thanks.
