96 ranger rover with eletrical and mechanical problems
i drive a 1996 range rover 4.0 SE. there is alot of problems with my rover. but one of them is about to keep me from driving it. when i take off, there is a really bad and kindof loud banging like noise coming from the back underneath the car. i dont know if it is the transfer case, tranmission, drivesaft , or torqe converter. i was wounder what i should do and who to take it too besides land rover. also, my air conditioning and heat only works when it wants to, my dash like speedometer, tachometer, everything on the dash doesnt work and every light is lit up on the dash. and when i hit a really hard bumb on the road going about 55mph the front wheels start shaking and wobbling and the steering wheel goes crazy, i have to stop or slow down alot for it to calm down and drive normal. aslo when i hit a bumb on the road, doesnt matter how fast, the car goes beep beep beep , you know that little alarm in the dash. does anyoone have any advice on what i should do. PLEASE HELP, I LOVE MY CAR.

For free, you can take your Rover to Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts, and they can run a diagnostic free of charge for you and tell you what's wrong. Unfortunatlely, it sounds to me that you have a serious electrical problem, and I don't know if that will skew the readings or not. I am not very fluent in car mechanics, but the problems you described sound to be significantly severe and I would not drive the truck unless you have to. If it still has the air suspension is that working properly? Good luck with your Rover, I hope you have the best possible outcome.
Oh, and if you live anywhere near the Carolinas there is an independent shop that a nice guy on these forums told me about in Mooresville, NC somewhat close to Charlotte, NC that will service Rovers, but I don't have any experience with them yet.

no the air suspension doesnt work, every morning before i drive it i have to manually pump it up. i bought an air compressor from lowes and my brother hooked lines up to the air bags or something. thats how i pump it it but in the winter the air leaks out fast i guess because of the cold air.if i take it to auto zone, can they Reset anything with the elecrical stuff with there diagnostic .
