Post Advice ~

Hi all ... i have been a land rover fan for as long as i can remember ... and i have kept american, german and european cars in the past ... After the serious dilemma of whether to go for a LR3 (2006 V8 HSE) or a Range rover (2003 VOGUE), i have finally decided to go for the RR ... I have come across many models ranging from 2003 to 2006 but the milage is a big concern ... funny thing is a RR with 88000 kms looks more worn out then one with 161000 kms ... getting used cars in the middle east can be tricky as the cars have to bear extreme temperatures (126 Fahrenheit today)... will a RR having 161000 kms give me more problems if its been serviced regularly? i am posting the link for further information ... thank you all ... sheraz

Welcome,

The short answer is yes. A RR with 161000 kms will have more wear and tear on it regardless of if it's been regularly serviced. Might it still have less problems then a 88000 kms? Sure, but probably only if the 88000 hasn't been serviced regularly--- in which case I would advise you to keep looking. One of the problems with RR's is LR likes to use cheap plastic that wears out over time and especially with exposure to high heat.

Honestly, I would not recommend getting a low production year MKIII (2003-2005) because a lot of the kinks weren't worked out and they are, as a whole, less reliable to begin with (and that's disregarding the fact that Rover's period are *fairly* unreliable to begin with).

Not sure if you already thought about it or you're in an area where it is a concern, but be careful to get one that hasn't been extensively used off-roading, in sand dunes, etc as that can also wear out components much faster. The one in the link you posted looks to have been kept on the streets but just thought i'd throw that out there anyway.

All that being said, Rovers can run forever if properly taken care of. They're fantastic vehicles. Best of luck whatever you decide. Let us know if you pick one up.
