Default Auction announced as frame/unibody damage

looking at an 08 RR Supercharged, vehicle is super clean and @ a decent price. Mileage only @ 55k, price is $26k. Carfax report shows it to be a clean venicle with no accidents, ran a Autocheck report and it reflected a 1/31/11 auto auction car with frame/unibody damage. drove the vehicle and it drives straight with no visible damage when i crawled under the vehicle. planning to take to my local shop that works on my LR3 for an inspection. Am i crazy to be even thinking about buying this vehicle? any input would be appreciated.

It will say "Salvage" only if insurance company had written the vehicle off, i.e. if cost of repairs would exceed certain threshold (it would wary from insurance company to insurance company but usually it is 60/40) What I am saying that if car cost $25K and cost to repair is $12K they will fix it and vehicle won't have a salvage title, something that cost $12K to fix could be a very serious damage so just because title isn't saying "Salvage" it does not mean the car was not seriously injured... On other hand - I had recently bought an 2004 X5 4.4 with salvage title, it was tapped in the rear but besides the fact that bumper fell of (and was beyond repair) and lower trunk gate was dented (but fully operational) there were just a few miscellaneous problems. I bought a bumper and lower gate in same - metallic black color for $400 for both, no bodywork, no paintwork...
