Default The best fuel for the 2002 RR P38 with Bosch engine

Owners,
Which do you fuel up with? A mix of regular unleaded and super high octane or do you just fuel up with the premium gasoline?
The manual says premium but I have heard talk that unless you have a high proformance engine it really doesn't matter.
Please your opinions are very important.
I have just been putting in premium.

RRs tend to do better with higher octane fuel. They can run on regular, but I don't recommend it at all. I use 93 in mine at every fill up. I've tried lower grades but it just doesn't run as smooth. The rover V8 is primitive a high compression engine and needs all the help it can get. I live at 3000ft ABSL. So it really helps to run higher octane on both of my vehicles. You could probably get away with 89 if you live at sea level. Otherwise, I would use the best stuff available.

I run premium as well in the RR. I run regular in my other vehicles. Compared to the other RR parts and accesories, premium fuel is cheap.

Thank you to all who answered. I will continue running her on premium. To all who read this I recommend you do the same.

Have a 1990 Classic and a 2001 RR. Use Marvel Mystery Oil and have had no problems. My Classic has 214.800 miles and runs great.

finishing gsd2004's thought for him " .......run Premium."

My Rover is part of a 4 car stable so it doesn't get run all that much, maybe 6 to 8k mi a year, so only using 93 octane isn't that big of a wallet penalty. I can't always find 91 octane around here.

Oddly enough, the Rover askes for premium, but my turbocharged SAAB says regular will do....
