Its a 1988 Range Rover classic. 3.5 petrol. We have had to add coolant, and there is also a strong coolant smell.

Go get the coolant system pressure tested to find the leak and fix it ASAP before you toast the engine, like today.

Where is the strong smell of coolant coming from? Bubbling in the tank could mean a number of things, but primarily the system is not pressurizing or the coolant to water ration is off. What I am worried about is it being a blown head gasket.

Most parts stores sell a Dye that you can use to help detect exhaust gases in the coolant or a blown head gasket. Might be worth a shot.

Best,

On a Rover you don't waste your time trying to find a leak, you go it it tested before you fry the engine.
