Default Experience using BMW NAv CD in 2003 range rover?

My 2003 RR has really old 2001 release NAvtec CDs. Per Land Rover site NAvteq makes avail an 8 CD set with 2007.1 release date for $199 to fit 2003 range. Per the NAvteq site they make avail a "just released" 2008.1 version for the 2002 BMW x5 that shares the same MK3 nav unit with range rover. I have been looking for used sets on ebay, craigslist, forums etc. Unable to find any used Land Rover 2007 .1 CDs but did find a used BMW 2008.1 CD.

SO, my question is does anyone have first hand experience using an updated BMW CD in the range rover MK3 nav unit? In theory, one would think they will work but have a BMW screen logo and no off road nav. BUT, I have heard grumblings relative to firmware/software updates contianed on the map update CDs that are not compatible from BMW to LR. Looking for anyone who might know for sure and has used a BMW CD map update in their range rover.
