fix my dashboard
1990 Land Rover Range Rover. I hot wired a 4-plug trailer harness its been fine for a week. Now that I needed to trailer I found out that i wired in the brake cable wrong and fixed it. Now when i turn on my headlights the built-in dash lights dont work. Also the gear selector lights go off. I'm confused but what i'm really wondering is if the trailer lights (i use a lightbar) have caused a reverse circuit and fried the lights?
Headlights still work
Fog lights and turn signals work too

Have you looked at the RAVE manuals? they should tell you what wires do what on your RR. The colors are different on those older classics and I know a friend who tried this and had lots of bad luck with it. Here is a link to download the service manual: http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.p...d=13&Itemid=29. You will need to burn it to a disc in order for it to work.
I think it has a something to due with a short because the fuse "A5" ( has a symbol of a light bulb with an arrow pointing right) has blown the first time this happened (sorry i forgot to add that, was kinda pissed about no dash lights) and when I rechecked today, it was blown again.
Why would it be sending current passed its 5 amp limit? all i did was solder 4 wires onto the trailer light 7-euro round connector at the right tail light.
How bad would it be if i upgraded the 5 amp fuse that now needs replacing again to something a bit more durable as in a 10, or 15 amp fuse. I dont want the truck to burn up but I really need the lights.
Plan B is to wire a few LED's to a battery holder and hot glue them around the dashboard to light up the tach, speedo, water temp, etc.

You are dealing with Lucas here so I wouldn't alter the system unless it were an emergency. He doesn't like it when you mess with his system's lol. (I can't believe they used lucas to power the concorde's electrical system) This link might help you: http://www.rangerovers.net/outfitting/towing/index.html
