Default Flat Battery

Hi.
I have a 2003 Range Rover TD6, The battery has gone flat and when I put the key in the drivers door lock it turns 45 degrees each way but does not unlock.
Is there any way of getting in? Before the hammer comes out!!
Thanks for your advice.

The lock might be broken, or because the battery is dead the thing won't unlock because the locks are electric. Even though I think the key turns a mechanical mechanism. In either case, you might need to call a lock smith or someone with a slim jim to open it up. For your wallet's sake, put the hammer away lol.

So it is true that if your battery dies you can't get into your Rover for safety, warmth, protection from wild animals etc. Wow who was the genius behind that idea?
