Default Front Window Rattle

The front drivers window on my 1996 Range Rover rattles like mad when its fully open. If I close it 6 inches or so it gets better.

Can anyone advise as to what the problem might be and how easy it would be to put right.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You most likely have a window regulator that is about to fail, might want to pull the door panel and check.

How easy is it to take off the door panel. Whenever I have done this on other cars in the past they never seem to go back properly.

Also how will I check that the regulator is OK.

The panels are usually pretty easy to remove, everyone is a little different, but usually there are one or two screws and then you have to carefully pull the panel away from the door frame, I use a flat blade to pop the plastic screws out of the door frame. Make sure to take your time removing the pnel and the clips,so you won't break them.
Once it is off, you should be able to see the window regulator, turn on the power and run the window up and down a couple of time, see if you can see any thing loose or binding up. Wiggle the glass a little to see if you can duplicate your noise.
That is all I can tell you I would do.

Most have two screws in the grab area and one behind the interior door handle.
All clips must be loose and then push panel up to disengage from top of door.
Be careful of wires that attach to the speaker if it is on the panel.
