Default Got my OBD scanner today!

I waited a couple weeks and it finally came. I bought it just to have around and thankfully not a fault. I took both cars out for a drive and read what the sensors were saying. I found it interesting that the OBD scanner would not pick up on some of sensors unless the program was set to metric. Although it did convert coolant and intake sensors from celcius to farenheit. Even though the temp gauge says it is hot, the rover stays at 192 to 194 with or without the a/c engaged. Everything seemed nice and stable, I am very happy with the results. If anyone is interested, I got this on ebay brand new for about $27 after shipping. It connects to a laptop and provides a wealth of information on the vehicle. Just go to the site and type in "usb obd"

The program appears to allow you to reset the codes. It is an odd setup but works great. The device is just a serial to USB converter so it mainly depends on the program. When I tell it to read the codes, it gives me the option at the bottom that says "clear" so I would assume that it can clear them. There is a simulate option too, I need to play with it some more to confirm it.

So will this thing go into other systems such as to rest the SRS light or just engine functions?

Well, just to confirm it skyguy, it did reset the check engine light on a friend's car. So it does clear codes. Willson, I don't know if it resets the SRS light....

Some scanners may do service engine lights but I am not sure about your model. On my 95 Disco it is just a button I can press under the seat that resets the light, I have never had to do it on the Range yet so I am not sure. I would give a call to the dealer or an independent shop and see wat they say. The dealer will say you have to take it to them but an independent shop may tell you otherwise.

It should work on all cars sold in the US from 1997 and up. Not all readers can access all of the data but it should at least give you the basics.
