Default I am getting the following codes!!

Trying to get rid of the following error codes (Acutron Scanner)

P0734
P0174
P0171
P1175
P1172

Starting work on my truck this weekend. Trying to get her in good shape. The bottom is covered with oil which I believe is coming from the valve covers. I'm thinking of steam cleaning it first to find where the oil is coming from.

I purchased 4 new O2 sensors.
Replaced the MAF last year still got the codes.

I have a bosch engine and my forst look at possibly replaceing the valve covers frightens me because of the intake and everything else on there.

Bascially the truck needs alot of work. was overheating before but hasn't lateley. Also hae a thermostat that I will be replacing...

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

P0734: Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio (can be caused by bad MAF)
P0174: Oxygen Sensor System Too Lean Fault Bank B
P0171: Oxygen Sensor System Too Lean Fault Bank A
P1175: Oxygen Sensor System Too Rich Fault Bank B
P1172: Oxygen Sensor System Too Rich Fault Bank A

What kind of air filter are you using?

Thanks for the reply Scott. Its a standard air filter. Do you think I may have some kind of vacum leak somewhere. Or air restriction. Does it sound like the o2 sensors are working or should I replace them anyway since I have them.

Is it running rough at all? If so, try disconnecting the MAF to see if it runs better. Any number of things could be triggering these codes. But, my opinion is it is a bad MAF. If you think about it, the 02 sensors are throwing out error codes and I doubt all of them are bad. The MAF can cause the engine to run too lean or too rich. You might also want to check for leaks on the intake system. Was the MAF you purchased new or used, and did you clean it recently, if so with what?

Not to step in on this one, but you have another bad MAF. the codes are not generated in any way by an 02.
The 734 is a definate MAF along with your other codes.
How old, exactly, is the MAF, was it purchased from Rover, if less then a year old it is covered by Rover's 1 year warranty.

Actually, The truck runs pretty good actually. needs new tires but overall good. The issue is I need to get these codes gone for it to pass inspection. I guess about 6 months ago I started looking into it after I kept clearing the codes and they came back. I purchased a MAF from Atlantic British, installed it and the codes came back. So I left it on the back burner because of other projects and have been driving with expired stickers... I'm trying to address it again now.

I guess I could call Atlantic british and see if they can send me another one. Is there a way to test the MAF unit or no?

I appreciate all the feedback and concern.

Andrew
