I have 2 independent issues... 2000 County
Hi, new to forum and I am looking for some advice on 2 independent issuesthat I am having trouble with my2000 County 4.0. Thank You in advance.
1) My battery is not holding a charge requiring me to use my portable Jumper 850. I suspect the battery has run its' course and needs replacing. After hearing a price of $350 from a local auto parts store I figured I would inquire with an RR mechanic as to why so much. Although he has an OEM for under $200 he brought to my attention about various problems I could encounter if I replace it myself and/or if the battery goes flat. He mentioned something to the effect about blowing out a chip that would run some $3000 to replace. I am a bit concerned.
2) I am certain that the following issue is not related as I have gone short of a year with this one... I have a persistent problem with 'fuse 8', can't keep a lit fuse here.

The battery should be nowhere near $350. Think I paid about $120 for an Interstate battery installed and all. Heck you could get and have an optima battery installed for less.
I wouldn't do it myself unless you have the handy tools to keep all the electric systems powered while you remove and replace the battery. Without it you'll run into possible immobilisation and radio lockout.
Just replace it before it completely dies so you don't have to worry about resetting the radio, etc.

That mechanic is full of ****, go buy a regular battery from the auto parts store, or wally land. mine in my discovery cost $72 with a exchange. just make sure its the right battery as recommended by the battery book things. If you "blow a chip" or something, go out and buy a lottery ticket.
