Exclamation Looking at 2006+ RR Supercharged - Buying advice?

Hey guys!

Never been over to this section of the site...always in the discovery section.

Anyway i am starting to look at 2006 or newer RR supercharged models. I was just wonder if there are things I should be looking out for during my search.

Does anyone do repairs themselves? How are they to work on? Every time something breaks do you need to go to the dealer?

Thanks for any advice.

First and foremost, get a Pre-Purchase Inspection done at a reputable shop or dealer. They can inspect the vehicle and give you an idea of some of the trouble areas. Bushings, ball joints, leaks, air suspension, etc... It will let you know what shape the vehicle is in and if it needs work, may give you a leg to stand on with negotiations.

Things you can do: See how it drives. does it vibrate, does it shift OK cold, does it shift ok hot, engine noise, front/rear axle noise, a/c works, features work (windows, cruise, radio, etc...).

Also, run the suspension from access height to off road and then back to access. If the compressor is weak, it may display a message about slow raising or may even set a suspension fault. Let it sit overnight and see if the suspension drops at all (it should not).

See what the service indicator says. If it shows that the service was due with a negative mileage (i.e. -12,000), then they more than likely neglected service or had service done at a non dealer or non specialty shop.

And no, it won't have to go to the dealer every time it breaks, as long as you can find a reputable and competent independent. If you can't find any local shops that have IDS/SDD (factory) or Autologic (aftermarket), then they won't be able to solve some issues that may arise with the vehicle.
You can use locator services like Land Rover Repair Shops - Find a Land Rover Mechanic | LRShops.com to see if any specialty shops are near your zip code.

Preventative maintenance is always key, as are service records to know where your at. As LR Techniker says look at everything you can, closely. There are good Indy shops, check with you local LR club see who they use.
