Looking to buy P38 RR with EAS question
Hi Everyone,
Currently own a Series II Disco, have owned a couple Series Is and an RR Classic in the past. I came across a 1996 P38 RR for cheap and am considering buying it. The vehicle was as advertised except for the EAS system. The Rover runs level at the normal height and the ride is fine but I cant seem to raise or lower it at all and none of the lights on the switch light up. The EAS manual switch seems to work as far as the light and the message on the dash is concerned. Any comments? As I typed this I also realized the may have been converted to coils which I did not check when I looked at the vehicle.
Thank you all
Fred

I did not look for coils when I checked out the Rover. The conversion aspect did not occur to me. How difficult is it to convert back if I can get a good deal on some new bags? Do they usually keep the tanks, compressor etc in place when they convert?
Thanks,
Fred
Thanks,

I would think that most people just keep the compressor, valve block, tank, lines, and ECU but some people sell those parts to pay for the conversion. If the parts are there and functional it would be very easy to convert back if not well...$$$???
WEll, today the guy at the shop put on my right rear new airbag, and guess what, well he thinks its the valve block, so he gave me the choice to have the coil springs put on, he said tomorrow he would look up prices.
What is the best coil conversion kit to get? or second best?
Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend it. I just checked on ebay and you can get a good used valve block for $150 to 300. Most coil kits will cost you $800 to $1,00 and probably $1500 if you need somebody to install it for you.
I looked around and around and decided to buy these from strutmasters, he is going to install them for about $400.00, so it beats the factory option which range rover said including install and parts for $1780. plus tax. The two inch lift I hope looks good.
