Exclamation Need help with offer due to carfax issue

I'm looking at a 2014 RRS Autobiography and the Carfax states there is "other damage" noting front damage but no accidents. The dealer (part of a reputable group I've dealt with before) says it was minor damage to the front bumper. I would usually skip over vehicles like this but unfortunately it's literally the only car in the country that has the options I want so I'm trying to decide what is fair. Fair Market Range is $65,009-$73,191, trade in is $58,700-$63,200 but these numbers do not take into account the upgraded $4,450 23 speaker system and the $600 soft close door option. They are at $65,400 and said $63,900 is the best they can do. Again, there are no accidents reported on the Carfax, just the other damage reported. What do you think is a fair offer or do you believe the $63,900 is fair?

It's probably fair but I would ask them to match the high trade in value of $63,200 due to that carfax report

27,000 miles. I'm located in Chicago, IL but the vehicle is located in Florida.

If this is the truck you are looking at > Used 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport For Sale | Sarasota FL

Looks like they have had it approx. a month and have already made price reductions. They are not going to floor plan this truck for long, so you know it's off to the auction soon. And now they are at $63,900 (to you).
Providing you're satisfied with your D D, plus had this thing independently inspected... I would tell them $62,500 all in. And I would get it for that price or maybe a few hundred more. But IMHO that is an absolutely fair price for that truck and it won't bring more at auction. Only one problem...If you're in love with this truck then you have trouble because they know you will pay more.
Just my 2 cents. Good Luck.... BUT >>>> You'll get it.

CarFax is not always accurate. Inspect the vehicle your self very carefully. Check all body panel lines, look underneath for overspray, inspect the front very carefully and be sure it drives straight with no pulling indicating frame damage. At those prices, other vehicles will come up. I would not buy a damaged vehicle sight unseen or even inspected by someone other than myself.

Yes that's it, I told them $62,000 was the best I could do after they told me $63,900 was their best last week and left it at that. The salesmen contacted me again yesterday asking if I was interested in another vehicle to which I replied no I'm just looking for a RRS. He said he still has the one here so let's make a deal. I told him I made a very fair offer and spoke to him earlier this morning to ask about their extended warranty. He asked if I could make the $63,900 work and I again told him no, he said he would speak to his boss tomorrow which I'm sure his boss will not move on price, but it is the end of the month so who knows. So I figured I'd come here and ask for opinions incase I'm being unreasonable.

There is a Land Rover dealer close by that I could have them send the vehicle to for inspection, but I just don't think those type of dealers sell junk. Usually if these type of dealers get something in that is not up to par it gets sent to the auction. Other vehicles pop up at this price but none with the options I want. When I said this was the only one in the country I wasn't exaggerating.

Unreasonable.... NO WAY! You are being realistic and in a way generous. These guys are trying to sell at best a $62.5K vehicle in Florida post Irma.... Good Luck!

For giggles I'll bet you a $1 that the next thing they offer is to "clear" the damage reported on the Carfax with a TrueFrame Inspection (B$). They might even offer to lower the price, but it won't change by more than $200 or less. F them, you know what you want to spend.
Just wait for your number to be accepted, or keep looking.

What happens when you want to sell or trade it?
The dealer or buyer is going to knock their offer down because of the ding on the Carfax, no matter how minor the damage.

So $62,500 should be my max? They have a $600 dealer fee and I told them $62,000 and the dealer fee would have to go.

I agree, which is why I thought I was being more than fair with my offer by going high trade in cost. I don't sell/trade to dealers so I wouldn't have to worry about taking a huge hit from them, but from a private party most definitely I'll be taking a hit.
