Hi folks, I am debating on if a should get my factory wheels repainted or If I should just buy new after market ones. I need tires too. I found some good deals at tirerack.com but I'm concerned about the wheels fitting the rover correctly.

I currently have factory 18" wheels with 255/55/r18 tires. Do you think I could go with wheels from another year rover newer...like a 19" wheels from a 05 rover.

Or should I get the aftermarket wheels from tirerack...ARGHHH!! Getting fustrated...lol

If I send the wheels out to get refinished, Its like 130.00 per wheel...Tirerack has sets with tires for like 800.00 for 4...

Any opinions

 

You can definitely get the wheels from a newer Rover. I think the largest you can go without modification is 20" but that may prevent you from putting it into access mode.

It's really just a question of personal preference.

 

I have the wheels off of my old 05 on my P38 - 19". They look great, I will post photos if my gallery isn't up or you can't find some of my older posts.

You just need hub centric rings to make them fit and the new style lugs too. Get the rings if you go this route out of metal / aluminum (overfinch has them) not the plastic one's.

Check ebay - seen them on there with tires and wheels together.

Regarding painting - I had that done but wasn't happy with it, that's why we ended up going this route.

So your saying I need rings and new lugs? Definiteley?

 

The lugs are definitely different on the P38-MKIII and I believe mlshelton is right in that you need hub centric rings (essentially acting as a shim) as the wheels are slightly different.

 

You will definitely need rings for the difference in spacing on the hubs. For the MKIII wheels you need the lugs that go with them to go to a P38. I can't speak for putting sport wheels on a P38 - I've never even looked to see if our sport's wheel's would line up with the P38 but since rain is again expected all weekend that would give me something to do in the garage...I should know with 2 HSE's out there and the Sport if the bolt pattern is the same, but I don't. The lugs look different for sure.

They will definately work. When I bought my p-38, it had 19 inch chrome MK III Range Rover wheels on it. I don't like big chrome wheels, so to return it back to the factory wheels, I had to buy new bigger lug nuts, remove the hubcentric spacers, and of course buy used factory wheels. Now, my Range Rover is back to looking nice and stock.
