Get one! I've had mine for 7 years now. Actually I am now licensed in two states but can carry in 38. Its a lot of responsibility but well worth it. It has brought me some piece of mind. It has actually helped stop crime twice without me ever needing to pull my gun. Just last month I pulled into a gas station and saw a guy beating on his girlfriend. People were calling 911 but nobody was doing anything about it. The guy was a lot bigger than I and without my concealed carry I probably would have stayed on the sideline too. Having that with me gave me enough confidence to step in and help her because I knew if things got drastically worse I would at least have an out. I didn't need to use it but it sure felt good having it there and I'm pretty sure she was glad she didn't have to wait until the cops came.

I agree. Guns are great and prevent many crimes every year. It is all about being responsible with them. I have many guns and always like to have one near me too. I also have my CWP.

+1 I lived in AZ for a few years and it came in handy more than once having a CCW permit. When I moved back to NY I had to sell all of my handguns because I don’t believe in registering them with the government, but I can have all my rifles. I live in such a small safe town where everyone leaves the doors unlocked, but my 110lb German shepherd and my rifles do make me feel even safer in my home.

I keep a rifle in the back, I just tell the cops when I am pulled over that I have it back there. I see the concealed weapon guys all the time at the range down the street from my house and keep telling my self I am going to do it, but never find the time. Also since we have bears wander through the neighborhood now and then it may be good to have something on my person to not die.

I only have one gun in the house and no bullets . Its a Remington model 700 with a long range scope. I need to get a close range hand gun though, but I it just keeps slipping my mind.... At least I know not to get into a confrontation with Krazz!

I like how we all agree that we should have the right to bear arms. I hate the idiots that say we need to get rid of them all and then crime will go away. There was a talk show host that stated "if we gave everyone on an airplane a gun, there would be far less successful terror attacks" I laughed so hard when I heard this, because its TRUE! In the words of Bud Boomer, "we are your worst nightmare, citizens with the right to bear arms" from the movie Canadian bacon.

I also have a CCW and carry daily. I hope and pray I am never in a situation where I would need to use deadly force, but I have trained for the event. I also am a believer in home defense and i am, well let's just say "adequately prepared" would be an understatement.

LR, if you are looking for a nice little mouse gun for daily concealed carry, (after you get your permit of course), I have both the Ruger LCP and LCR and like them both. Light, easy to use and easy to conceal. I have larger semi-autos (1911's, M&P 9mm, etc) and revolvers (.357) but noticed I didn't always like to carry them due to weight/size. A CC gun doesn't do much good on your dresser or in your glovebox. They are also affordable. The new S&W Bodyguard models also look like a possibility to explore.

Good luck and glad you made it through the ordeal safely.

Chris,
I also carry the LCP and love it. I have recently changed to a Glock 27 because I feel a little better carrying a .40 S&W. The key is to get the largest gun that you will carry regularly. I would love to carry my .308 win pistol however that one is a little tough to conceal For home protection I have a tactically modified Remington 870 12 ga.

Glock 23 here. Small enough to conceal on my frame, large enough to do damage. Kept locked in fingerprint scanning pistol safe on my bedside table because of the kids.

I also have a Glock 23C. It's nice but it doesn't fit as well down my pants as the 27
