Default p38 leaking sunroof

Hello everyone,
I recently had the headliner replaced and now the sunroof does not seem to close all the way. It now whistles and leaks. I first checked for fabric in the way of the seal and cut away some that was in the way. I then disconnected and reconnected the battery to reset the sunroof. No matter what I do, I can't get it to go all the way up when it closes. I have checked for broken parts, and have found none. It there an adjustment on this thing? It was fine before the new headliner was installed. I can't figure it out. Help. TIA.

Wilson,
FYI the sun roofs on these p38's are not as invincible as they look. I got a rude awakening when I had the liner covering the sunroof retracted and went through the car wash. When it came to the dryer/jet engine drying the roof it actually opened the entire edge of the sunroof as if I hit the tilt button and a few drops of water came in as a result. Not sure if this helps in anyway but I can feel your frustration.

Sounds like whoever did the install didn't put it back correctly. I remember when I took mine out... WHAT A PAIN! Its easy to mess up too. If I remember correctly the sunroof unit which is attached by 6 bolts (I can't remember the exact amount) has a little slack in the mounting points so you can shift the sun roof around to get it to fit perfectly. Took me awhile to align mine. Unfortunately you will need to remove the headliner to get to the bolts...

So did they have to remove the sunroof in order to replace the headliner?

They probably re did your sunshade while doing the headliner, unless you told them not to. If they wanted to do the sunshade, they would need to remove the whole sunroof assembly.

Ok, thank you. That explains it. They did re-do the sunshade. Now I get to remove the headliner to adjust the sunroof. I just love fixing other people's work.
