p38 needs new fuel pump ...
1999 RR 4.0 GEMS with 200k miles.
Runs smooth until try to accelerate, then cuts out and in / and out.
My mech. says it's the fuel pump.
He recommends new pump and the "sender" and replace everything else, or it will fail again (with all those miles).
So. Seems the only source is Atlantic British, who assemble their own version for $800 ( !!! ). Wow. Anyone have advice on how to do this without spending half the value of the car? I have researched the method of access through the floorboard by cutting an opening, but there's still the pump/sender expense issue.
Also, BP Utah has some incomplete units:

Thanks. Kevin in Minneapolis.

I the same truck and had the same problem, with the same pump; I rebuilt the old pump, no good could get more than 25 psi.
I sprung for the $800 fuel pump from AB worked for 3 months and died I replaced in under warrentee it died again.
After hours and hours of searching it turned out to be a bad section of wiring harness, the very last section that runs from the tank to the frame.
Every now and them i would a corner and it would just die.
have you mechanic check the harness while wiggling it around, hate to see you spend all the time and effort that I did.
No need to cut the floor, 2 fuel line, 3 nuts, two bolts, tank fill and vent then the tank drops right down, unfortunately i can do it in my driveway in about 20 minutes now.
Also that pump is half price if you can find it on eBay UK. as most there stuff is diesel, so dealer have no reason to keep them sitting on their shelves.
