The alternator that comes in them is already pretty high output. Over 100 amps if I remember correctly. Adding a second alternator sounds like an interesting project especially on a p-38. I have thought about adding a second battery on mine but that would be easy to do compared to an alternator. Do your lights dim at idle?

lol omg. You are going to have to find one heck of a belt! What do you need a high output alternator for?

I used to have an ice cream truck and I had two different alternators. Actually they acted as two separate electrical systems. One for the truck, and the other for the freezers and lights/sounds. It came in very handy because once I left lights on and was able to jumpstart myself and another time I lost an alternator and was able to run the jumper cables and keep selling the rest of the day.

lol if the alt puts out 100a or less i'm in big trouble lol. i got a optima red top and xs 3100. my system draws roughly close to 500 amps haha but my battery is rated at a 3100a draw. i just need a alternator(s) that push out around 300a and my electrical will be solid!

at idle my battery sits at 13.5 v (+) or (-) .1v
i want my vehicle to sit at around 14.4v and when the bass hits it should dip into the 13's (i know i'm dreaming but i will do it some how...lol)

Good luck finding a 300 amp in this application. You can probably find something close to 200 amps.

The stock alternator is a 150A. That's pretty stout for stock.

If you want a little more amps, go to , http://www.mean-green.com/index.html
they will give you some options, that and get rid of the Red Top and go for one of the new Sears batteries made by Odessey in either a 34 or 51 series.

i'm switching out the red top for an XS 3100. it's just holding me for now until i can get that battery. Group 31 is a better group for my application. My Red top is a 34.

if the alternator is 150A stock. what rpm is that at? i want something that does atleast 200A @ 1k-2k rpm
my friend told me that his bosch alt does 200a. when i looked up the specs on it, it does 200a at 6k rpm, that's retarded. well to me
