Default radio question/help

I have a 2001 RR HSE 4.6. Last year, sound stop coming from my speakers. So finally last Sat. I thought I would go up to Best Buy and see how much a new amp and radio would cost me. The reason for this decision was that I want to be able to have aux or usb plug in my radio so I can use my ipodI know I could probably get this done by the dealership, but I've read a few horror stories about how much the Land Rover Dealer ship can charge for radio problems.

So I thought I thought I would just get the stereo and amp I wanted for my car and put it in.

Well the Installer at BB told me they don't make a conversion/mounting kit for range rover, so basically i have to go with the factory radios from LR.

Is this true or has anyone used a bought stereo in their RR or have suggestions on getting a mounting kit?

Thanks so much for any help

-Brandon

I've never done this myself, but I know you can install a different radio than whats in there now. Not sure about the amp, but you can check online, there are used ones at good prices.

Thanks for replying.

I figured the guy at Best Buy was just being lazy and didn't want to bother messing with a range rover.I'm going to call Rogers stereo(local car radio shop) this week and see what they say.

Thanks

I recomend Roverville Radio. They fixed the one in my RR and they sell refurbished ones too. They do great work and are fast.

I have a factory radio that I would sell. I bought it when I lost the speakers on the left side of my truck. I thought that I had lost the left channel on the radio but when I installed the new stereo it did the same thing. It turned out to be a bad wire going to the amp on the left side. The radio was just fine.
