i'm a 2003 disco owner and am thinking about a range rover hse 2003 to 2006 with the BMW V8. what are the major issues with these? mainly drive train issues...things that very time consuming or costly....any transmission issues?

i'm used to repairing a dicoverey. i don't want to have to work on another car much

well a 03-05 has the bmw motor they are very easy to work on compared to the disco 2 with the 03-05 that has the bmw motor they do have more problems compared to the 06-09 jaguar ajv8 motor engines on the 03-05 with bmw m62 motor have a lot of leaking and cooling problems compred to the 06-09 but are a little easier to work on compared to the newer motor on the other hand the 06-09 ajv8 is a better motor just a little more complicated to work on compared to the older bmw motor i would say get a nice 06-09 depending on the budget a lower mille ajv8 will last a long time mine has 243k on it now and no major issues

 

If you are looking for an L322 (full size Rover), I would get a 2006 or later. 2005 and prior had the M62 engine which in my opinion would only make a good coffee table.

 

Any land rover tech will tell you the old BMW motors are garbage in those things. Get a 06 and up its worth the extra $
