range rover question "supoerlock" ?????????
hello everyone im new to the land rover world . I have an opportunity to purchase a 1996 range rover 4.0 se there is one problem with the vehicle the owner stated that the battery went dead because the vehicle sat for a while now it will not start and the alarm goes off when you open any door besides the driver door. he states the car ran well before they parked it . now for my question is should i stay away from it he only wants 2grand the truck looks very nice a few little dings here and there but nothing major . I have been reading these forums for the last few days and it appears to be "super locked" or something of that sort if anyone can give me there opinion on what kind of work it requires to get the factory alarm to stop going off and to get it running or should i just stay away and im somewhat mechanically inclined so i plan on doing the work myself thank you any info would be wonderful
For $2k I wouldn't let it go, but unfortunately I don't know to what extent it takes to get it "unsuperlocked." I have heard stories of where it has taken weeks for the dealer to even figure out what to do, but for $2k I'd take that chance. Best of luck to you, if you decide to go through with it.
Here's what looks to be a pretty comprehensive trouble shooting guide to the "superlocking" issue...
