Default Range Rover vs. Discovery

I was hoping someone could shed some light on the main differences between the Range Rover early 2000's, and the the Discovery's? (outside of appearance). Is the Range Rover as capable off-road? Is it less prone to mechanical problems. I am new to these vehicles and interested in possibly making a purchase. I am doing research on my own but figured I could get some great insight here. I had only been looking at he Discovery's until someone asked why I wasnt interested in the Range Rover, and didn't really have an answer. Are they totally different cars? Thanks

The RR is not as capable off road as a Disco is, there are less modification that are available to make them more capable.
What sort of wheeling arew you planning on doing and how often?

RR is great off roader, Disco slightly better approach and departure angles, Defender is the best off roader. Due to less overhang front and rear
