I think I may have found the problem!!! a bad flexplate. I will Know for sure when I replace it this week.

JB, Be sure to check the dowel pins in the back of the block. I'll bet someone did not get them lined up correctly. This will cause the flex plate to crack and cause all kinds of fun. You may need to replace the trans bell housing also.
