Default Silly HVAC question

Do blend motors regulate the temperature of the air into the cabin or just the distribution? I ask because my indy pulled two hvac codes, one relating to a blend motor fault and one indicating the heater matrix sensor is faulty. Based on sone reasearch the issue involving he heat sensor makes sense because when I set the temp to AUTO on anything other than LO, the air is hot as can be. I just don't want to do the blends right now. Thanks all.

Yes the blend doors do it all , but the faulty heater core temp sensor will also cause the system to do funky things too. you might want to check under your passenger side dash to see if you have anytrails of coolant on the carpet or on the lower panels, the heatercore sensor is located on the pipes going into the heatercore at the LS of the glove box . if coolant has been driping on the sensor it will fail. any of the components being replaced will require that the codes be reset with Test Book as well . if the o-rings are leaking you might as well do it all, because you'll need to take apart most of the dash for either repair.

Thanks for the good info Dirtyduk. No signs of coolant leaking and the o-rings were replaced approx 30K miles ago (about 2 years ago). My truck has 139K miles. I understand the heatercore temp sensor is inexpensive (about $30). Is there anything to swapping it out? What kind of labor expense can I expect from an indy for the heatercore temp sensor? Again, thank you for your help. VERY much appreciated!

The sensor isint too hard to access, expect to get charged around 1-1.5 hours to replace it and reset the codes ?
