Default Stranded, 1999 RR

1. Battery IS NOT the problem (that was guess #1)
2. Turn Key, CLICK, then Nothing.
Tested by turning on Headlights, turn key lights go out (dim) for a split second then come back up, all interior accessory do the same. The lights in shifter go out then back on with nothing reaching the starter.

Unit and I where stranded about 30 miles from the house, I got a ride the RR is in the Parking lot.

Any Idea?
1. Relay bad
2. Is there is fuse that runs the starting circuit

Any ideas would be GREAT.

How do you know your battery is not bad, without testing it, you don't.

My money, knowing Rovers as I do, is still on the charging system.
Take your old battery out and have it charged, then install, start it and go to a local parts store for a free charging system test, should be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts.

Not to argue but I put a NEW battery on Charge overnight, Digital charger, 2 amp, 100% when I took it off, drove out to the RR swapped them and SAME results.
1. I put my hand on the relays to see which was clicking, one was a little "BROWN" on top so I swapped the it with another even though it WAS CLICKING.
2. I paid MORE attention to the total symptoms and in over 30 years I Have NEVER seen this EXCEPT when the ignition switch went south on another car.
3. Turned on the ignition, WAITED for all the beeps to stop, turned the key, heard the relay click, and NOTHING at all. I am going to have it towed to Land Rover in Columbia S.C. and let them figure it out.
So far
1. Checked ALL FUSES, all good, used a VOM to make sure
2. Played the relay game
3. New Battery correct CCA for the RR
Now the $64,000.00 question Does this have a LOW OIL LEVEL CUT OFF? I just thought of that now, Oil level was checked BEFORE I drove the 34 miles to the land and it was a LITTLE below FULL but with an Oil Change in the works for this week I just let it go. There are NO oil Leaks (sure this is British?) no wet frame or suspension parts from a leak and no signs around the filter.

I gave up and had it towed to the dealer. Will let you know what it was.
