Default stupid question from a jeep guy...

i've never owned a LR but have always admired them from afar, especially the original Range Rovers. that being the case, i have a extremely novice question that i'm sure will get me flamed ;-) please see this picture:

Probably a fresh air vent for the cabin.

Can anyone confirm?

I'm guessing it is not Ram Air. Nice Rover though.

also, follow up question: was the side mirror placement something this guy did custom, or was that actually where they were placed from the factory on some models?

They did the forward placed mirrors on the 2 door RRs, up until about the mid 70s I believe... The thing your arrow is pointed at is in fact the fresh air intake for the cabin. At least it was on my boss's. When the fans were running and the air intake was set to the outside. You could hear a large amount of air being sucked through those vents. They have, or should have, foam inlays to filter out heavy debris. BTW, this isn't the Jeep forums, we don't sack people for asking questions. So ask away!

I think you are going to have a hard time finding a RR in the US with those mirrors on it. Back then many cars had the mirrors on them like that.
