Default Will Not go into gear, Drivetrain Failure

Our 2003 RR HSE had a complete breakdown. When putting the vehicle into gear (FWD or REV) a horrible grinding sound and the vehicle shakes. Vehicle will not engage into gear or move at all. With all the skid plates, I cannot see any evidence at first look of a problem, and no fluids coming out. Had the vehicle towed to a local garage to get it off of the motorway, and wont be able to have a mechanic look at the vehicle for a few more days. Anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be? Never exerpericned anything like this, and my faith in the Land Rover marque is at an all time low. This will be the 3rd time this vehicle has left my family stranded. This vehicle has less than 40,000 miles!

Any comments would be most appreciated.

This should be covered under that alleged diff. recall mentioned on another post here. I'd call LR before spending any money. Good Luck!

Has anyone heard any updates as to the Front Diff Recall? My issues were just that, the splines on the front Differential Coupling were completely worn. An engineering flaw if I ever saw one. I guess we can thank BMW for this.

if you would like to wait for the recall, go ahead, its about 2 months away, and it has nothing to do with the differential itself, solely the input flange to it. get it fixed, if there is a recall, you will be reimbursed for anything you paid before hand to fix the problem

Any news on the Front Diff Recall? I am hoping they announce something very soon.
