Default Would this hurt, A/C belt removed

My A/C is not charged and was wondering if it would hurt anything if i removed the belt from the compressor, unpluged the electrical plug from the unit.. I thought it would be one less thing the engine would hafta do. I have a 1991 RR. Thanks all...paul

Default RE: Would this hurt, A/C belt removed

Wouldn't really affect anything, as the A/C compressor has its own drive belt. However--- with the A/C Clutch not engaged the power absorbed by the clutch rotating element is very small.
