My 1997 Range Rover HSE keeps showing a Tailgate Open in the dashboard message center even though it's completely shut. I've changed the fuse and taken the back panel apart but can't seem to fix the program to remove the error message. Anyone experience this issue and know how I can fix it? Thanks!

 

its based on the upper tailgate, if the cargo space lights are staying on and both sections are fully shut, you need a new upper tailgate latch. the lights will not extinguish and will cause the battery to drain. not terribly common,but ive seen a few go bad.
