Default 00 Disco II Not Starting (Blinking sprt & man tranny dash lights)

Hi Everybody,

I have a 2000 Disco II with 140k. Recently, the manual and sport transmission lights began to blink while driving. According to the manual, I pulled over and shut it off and then restarted and the lights went away. They have since returned causing the truck to shut off in traffic. I managed to get it home but now it will not start. Can anyone help?

Try checking your battery terminals, then have your battery tested. The flashing M/S lights are a dead give away (pun intended). Low battery voltage first shows up in the tranny computer and gives you a fault. Chances are your battery needs replaced. You might clean the ground straps too.

On another note, if you post your questions in the Discovery tab, you will get almost instant response. I hope this helps you.

Replaced the battery and cleaned the ground straps. No start. Turns over but nothing.

Have you checked for fuel and spark?

Try resetting the alarm, lock and unlock the doors 3 time with either the key or remote, then try starting it. How about your inerita switch, have you reset it?
If neither of these things correct the problem, the you'll need to replace the crank sensor which when failing does not always throw a check engine light.

Rick her is a link, post number 10 should put you in the ball park.

I have not had to do mine yet, but my understanding is that it is plug and play. You should not have to do more than replace it. I lurk on here and have read almost every post for the last two years trying to anticipate upcomming problems that will leave my wife VERY unhappy with me. I hope this has helped you.
