Default 1991 RRC suspension upgrade/downgrad

Bought a nice RRC. Previous owner did a lot of nice modifications including body repairs, new motor and transmission. This is why I bought it. What I don't like is the lift kit and shocks on it. I'd like to pull the spring extension blocks (silver aluminum plates 2" or so thick) out, and replace the OME shocks with something softer. The truck has an ARB bumper and 8k Warn winch on it, so the front needs something more than the stock that came on it in 1991. I'll keep the OME springs he put on. What am I looking at here? Any big problems? This is a Snowboard and camping truck. I'm not interested in serious off-roading. I'm even considering just putting the truck back to it's 'stock/normal' clearance numbers. I know going taller and rougher is the usual direction, but any advice on going shorter and softer?

Click on either of the blue html links in my signature. You can talk to both venders to a get good idea of what you'll need to compensate for the heavier front end. I didn't lift my truck but I added a LR brush guard which made the nose noticeably heavier, could feel the difference. Both venders sell stock coils and shocks and Lucky8 has aftermarket sets.

Thanks! I had one other thought. I recently did an overland from Johannesburg to Nxai national park. I drove a newer Discovery that had the OME kit on it. Partner was in a Toyota Hilux. Other support vehicle was an air loaded new discovery.
Frankly, the air suspension was fantastic.
Is there an air suspension upgrade I can add to a 1991? Any thoughts?

Off hand I don't know but why not? The Australian penal colony would be my first guess at a bagged Disco and that's why they are over there. Actually an early GEMS P38's might work with some modifications and fab work. I know the rears in some of the Classics had bags or helper bags.
