Default 1994 Discovery question transmission

Hi,

Just got this truck with 105k miles it runs good but I need to fix 1 item. Was told I need a transmission shift module to help the truck shift better. It shifts a little rough. I bought it from a dealer and the guy who traded it in left notes for this but not a detail part I might need.

Thanks a million for any help you can give.

When does it shift rough? Have you checked the fluid color and smell, is it bright red and clear or brown and have a burned smell?
There is also a shift cable and depending on how it is shifting, you may be able to adjust the shift point with an adjustment.

There is no shift module on this truck
If it is shifting hard you need to start with a transmission filter change and then if it continues have it professionally flushed.

If the filter was changed this year then just do the flush.
If that does not work you need a new transmission.
Look for that receipt too, they may have already had that done and been told they need a new transmission and thats why they sold it.

Ok thanks I am going to try the flush. I tried calling the guy who sold it to me to get more info he was out of town and driving but he thought he was told the part was on the side of the transmission and is a solenoid. Are you familiar with that part?

My machanic spent about 3 hours going over the truck when he changed my oil he said other than some small leaks the truck looks good.

Default transmission update.

Ok took my truck to get tranny flushed but they did not have the big enough attachment to flush it BUT he was able to adjust the shift cable.

I think that may have been the problem it seems to be shifting perfect now. I am going to drive it more today to find out.

The plan was to go back in a few days and have it flushed. Do you think I should do that or should I drive it for a week and see how it shifts.

Thanks again!

Just drive it for now and see how it shifts, if all is well and the trans fluid is nice and clean then dont worry about it.
