Default 1998 Disco 1 Stereo CODE

Hi all,

I got a 1998 Disco 1 from an auction a while ago and it didn’t come with owners manual or anything. The stereo is the original and it has the security “Code” on the screen. I called local dealer and they directed me to HQ since it’s an older model. I provided vin and other info and they came back with a code but the code doesn’t work! Anyone know a way to hard reset? Or maybe I’m entering the code wrong? I’ve tried everything!!

thanks

Code should be five digits. LRNA will have codes for original units based on vehicle VIN. Perhaps yours was swapped somewhere along the line.

I keep the code for mine written on the bottom of the rubber coin tray on the dash. Others will have it on a piece of tape on the unit itself.

To pull the unit from the dash you'll need to find a hex/allen key that will fit snugly into the holes in the unit. Turning the mechanism in those holes will draw in the little wings which expand from the sides of the unit and hold it in place.

Original unit! with the WB! WooHoo! I would never swap mine just for that alone.

There is a serial number on the back of the radio. LRNA should be able to provide you with the code based on that info. I've gotten codes that way dozens of times in situations where the radio was not the one originally installed on the vehicle. It used to be as simple as a call to my local Land Rover dealer who would usually have the code for me within an hour or two. I haven't had to avail myself of their services in awhile so a call to LRNA may be necessary.
