Hi there!
We just bought a 1998 Discover LSE. We locked it up last night and the red light on the dash started flashing. This morning we went out and unlocked it using the key in the driver door (we don't have a fob and the guy we bought it from never locked it) and the alarm went off and the ignition was disabled. So, two questions,
1. How do we disarm it so we can drive?
2. Is it possible to totally remove the system? We live in the country and don't need or want an alarm system.
Thanks for the help!!

The driver's door switch is probably not working which is why it didn't disable the alarm when you unlocked it. Normally you lock it back up and unlock/lock it three times to disable the alarm on the drivers side (which is the only side with a switch). It's possible to bypass the alarm unit but I don't want to say so here. Also if you want to keep it stock it's possible to replace the alarm unit and ECU with another to go around your problem and they're fairly inexpensive as a pair. Contact Paul Grant in my signature for that.
