Default Center diff

Hi all. Just joined the site. I'm excited to be here and start learning. I have a question right away. I've heard of a certain year Disco not having the center diff with the locking linkage hooked up. Is there any truth to that?

Certainly is, from the D2 introduced in late 98 or MY99 the linkage to the H/L lever was deleted but the internals of the transfer case remained.
Some time in 2002 they deleted the internals from the transfer case completely, it was then fully re-introduced in the D2A model from late 2002 or early 2003.
The D2 is very capable without the CDL so unless you plan on mud plugging or hard core offroad duties you wont miss it.

That said, you will certainly notice a difference if you do engage the transfer case lock in a lot of off-road conditions, particularly loose sand.

AFAIK the only NAS DII without the linkage and tc shifter box was the 02.

The only NAS D2 WITH both is the '04. The early ones have the lockable transfer case but no linkage.

They finally get it right and discontinue the line, makes perfect sense.
