Default 1999 disco 2 please need help

I need help please. I am building a overlander and I’ve spent a fortune trying to fix my rover. When driving the m and s green gear lights come on and it won’t down shift or up shift anymore. Limp mode I presume. I changed battery and alternator. All 4 wheel speed sensors. Trans output speed sensor, crank shaft speed sensor, all 4 wheel bearing hubs, xyz switch and kick down cable. Had the trans serviced with new filter and fluid. I’m ready to give up. Does anyone have any ideals on what else I’ve missed or need to change. You can turn key off and back on and restart it and it will work perfect for a few min then same thing. Thanks guys.

I can't help w/ the issue. But I'll tell you that you should stop throwing parts at it and bring it to someone that knows how to diagnose the issue.

Read/post in the Disco 2 forum instead of the general one.
You should have started with a code reader that would have pointed you in the right direction before firing the parts cannon. Several good options for this are discussed in the D2 section. A generic code reader won't work because it won't pull the manufacturer-specific codes.

Have to agree w the above statements. The process has to start w proper diagnosis. Not throwing a bunch of parts at it. Now you've introduced too many variables to the equation for anyone to help here. A Rover specific code reader would have been cheaper than all the parts you've thrown at it. Going forward I'd get that code reader and see what codes are popping up. If you find it's out of your skill level maybe paying a Rover Specialist to diagnose it is your only path.

What brand code reader would you recommend getting.

Nanocom is on the pricier end but very good. There are other less expensive scanners that work also but have more limited functions.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/discovery-ii-18/

Or just use the search function. Perhaps look for "scanner" and some other terms such as "best."
