2001 Disco II Front U joint
anyone know where i can get a replacement? Mine broke and the driveshaft came off. i have had the vehicle checked and there was no damage under the rover. But i need the rover running and all it needs is an u joint for the front driveshaft.
Was it your double cardon that broke or did you have that replaced?

You may want to consider replacing more than just that one. I replaced one two years ago and six months later another went. Three of the four on the two shafts are the same U-joint.
Mine were about $50 from Atlantic British. The price you got is fair - I doubt you'll find them for any less.
Make sure you soak these with penetrating fluid or you could break the yoke and have to replace the shaft too.

You have to buy 2 new u-joints with grease fittings as well as a centering ball kit, made by the same company as the u-joints. Then you need to find someone who can do the rebuild.
I just had my front shaft rebuilt at a local drive shaft shop for $150.00. Mike is right about the double cardon joint. You should go ahead and have the centering ball kit installed along with the two u joints. As longas the yokes and shaft parts are OK any drive shaft shop should be able to fix you up.
