Default 2002 Range Rover p38 stereo stops working

sound stopped working for radio/CD/NAV despite all 3 functioning. There is no mute button on this model, and I have swapped out stereo head unit, AMP, disconnected NAV and speakers, but still no sound - I've seen this problem posted but haven't seen a solution - has anyone seen a fix? thanks!

Exclamation same issue w mine

I have same problem long ago with my unit...radio displays "mute" and wont work at all.
I believe model is a XQD000340PUY. If Checked manual and there is nothing about mute issues/features.
I have spent hours researching issue but no answers.
i began searching issue once again and found this:

What the problem solved. I am having the same problem. The sub-woofer is making a thumping noise but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Any idea what this could be?
