Default 200tdi in 98 disco 1

Hello all,
I've been searching a lot of forums in search of someone doing a conversion from the 4.0 v8 auto to the 200tdi 5speed with no luck. I know the basics and have been talking with zak at zombie motors who is importing the engine kits but wanted to see if anyone has any additional info or pointers I could use. if anyone has a good photo album of a swap that would be great.
the kit comes with most everything I need(motor, tranny, transfer, computer, wiring harness, slave cylinder, air box, radiator and intercooler)

I know ill have to move the motor mounts but does anyone know where too?

thanks for any help

david

Hi David,
Welcome to the forum. Where are you located? Without wishing to throw mud at zombie motors, I suggest an Internet search prior to commiting money, so you can part with your cash with eyes open.

200tdi came stock in a d1, the turbo location was different between the defender and discovery version so make sure you know which version of the engine you're getting. This is a pretty routine swap in the UK so maybe a check on landyzone might get you the info on motor mount location.

Thanks for the heads up, I've seen a bit of negative chatter about him, I've already ordered the kit from him and as long as the mileage on the motor and tranny are as advertised its seem like a good deal. The price should leave him with a decent margin and get me the motor I am after. He seems to sell quite a few kits and has been helpful when I have talked with him.
I haven't found any good info on the swap yet as far as tech info or measurements so if you happen across it please share a link.

I'll ask some of my buddies back home in Scotland what the engine mount relocation looks like.

I just reinstalled a discovery 200tdi in my series 3 109, but that's an easier install as it bolts right up to the bell housing and reuses existing mounts

why a 200tdi ? 300tdi is more refined and a little more powerful, 200 parts are getting hard to get especially cylinder heads which are non existent new.
